Basshunter Dream on the DancefloorWatch at the source
Basshunter is the stage name of Jonas Altberg, a Swedish singer, producer and DJ from Halmstad who became one of the defining Eurodance acts of the late 2000s. After the Swedish-language "Boten Anna" broke across Europe in 2006, his English-language reinvention "Now You’re Gone" — a collaboration with DJ Mental Theo — spent five weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart in early 2008, launching a run of UK top-10 hits including "All I Ever Wanted", "Angel in the Night" and "I Miss You".
Dream on the Dancefloor arrived on 18 November 2012 as a single from his fifth studio album, Calling Time. Released through All Around the World, it is built around the instantly recognisable synth melody of Gigi D’Agostino’s 1999 anthem "L’Amour Toujours (I’ll Fly with You)", reworked into a bright, festival-ready dance-pop record. The demo was first aired on BBC Radio 1 on 13 July 2012, and the official video — directed by Gareth Evans — was uploaded by AATW on 28 September 2012.
By the time the single landed, Basshunter’s UK commercial peak had passed and Dream on the Dancefloor did not reach the main UK Singles Chart — but it remained a favourite in his live sets, having already been road-tested in 2011 in front of a crowd of around 11,000 at the Youth Beatz festival in Dumfries.
