Chris Martin performs the piano-driven ballad while walking backward through city streets and rural roads at night. The entire video plays in reverse chronological order, ending with a car accident scene that reveals the narrative's tragic origin. Director Jamie Thraves shot Martin lip-syncing the lyrics backward, then reversed the footage to create the effect. The song appears on A Rush of Blood to the Head.
