Released in October 1986 as the fourth single from their self-titled debut album, 'Don't Dream It's Over' became Crowded House's most successful international hit. Written by lead singer Neil Finn, the song reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one in Canada. The accompanying music video, directed by Alex Proyas, features surreal imagery with household objects floating in the air, complementing the song's introspective lyrics.
