Taken from the CUTTERRED FLESH release titled "The Shapes of Hidden Malice" on Transcending Obscurity Records

Inspired by Guy de Maupassant’s 1887 psychological horror story Le Horla, the song explores the terrifying collapse of the human mind under the influence of an unseen presence.

An invisible force slowly takes control, eroding sanity, identity, and free will. What begins as doubt becomes certainty — and the realization that the greatest horror is losing control over your own existence.

“Le Horla” is taken from CUTTERRED FLESH’s album THE SHAPES OF HIDDEN MALICE, a collection of ten songs inspired by ten literary works of horror from different countries, cultures, and centuries.

Each song explores a different mechanism of fear, transforming the darkest visions of classic literature into extreme metal.

Different horrors. One descent beyond reality.

Based on the novella Le Horla by Guy de Maupassant (1887).

Info: Czech death metal stalwarts Cutterred Flesh have been at it for 25 years and they still continue to evolve with each album. They made quite an impact with their previous two albums due to their unexpected diversity and infusion of progressive elements in their beefy-sounding brutal death metal music. On their new album, they've trimmed the fat to become more vibrant and slick. The transitions are more fluid and the overall sound is more cohesive as a result. The brutality is still present, unleashed in cascading waves rather than dominating the music, which aims to do a lot more over here. Each song represents a unique horror story inspired by classic authors. In the band's words: "They dissect the mechanisms of fear and translate them into sound". This is Cutterred Flesh's most ambitious album, representing a fresh outlook and a visceral approach.
