Destiny’s Child Say My NameWatch at the source
Destiny’s Child’s 1999 “Say My Name” is precision-cut contemporary R&B: clipped rhythms, sleek pop pressure, and harmonies that turn romantic doubt into a confrontation. Directed by Joseph Kahn, the video lands alongside the group’s run of fiercely self-possessed hits, with Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams helping define a sharper era of pop-soul confidence.
With a string of hits ranging from the self-reliant “Bills, Bills, Bills” to the jelly-celebrating “Bootylicious,” Destiny’s Child brought a fiercely strong brand of femininity to the pop charts—and made stars out of key members Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé Knowles.
