orphantwin DeathsurfWatch at the source
orphantwin quietly materialized over the past few years as a collaborative project by brothers Matthew Putman and Cory Brandan of Norma Jean. During the recording of Norma Jean’s All Hail in 2019, Matthew contributed heavily as a co-writer, co-producer, percussionist, and engineer. Among his contributions, they collaborated on the opening track “Orphan Twin.” When the world shut down in 2020, Cory and Matthew resumed writing together. It naturally morphed into its own beast as they progressed: Shaking cinematic soundscape architecture with fits of metallic intensity and unexpected melodic bliss.
The door swings both ways for the truce and clash. Well, that's a great idea, let's run it up the mast and collect the salutes. Let’s run it up the flagstaff and see what it will never contain. I wanna break the knife off under the skin. And when my grip is tired just tell me when to separate the hand and fall back down. This is a supernatural anxiety. This is a spiritual experience, but It’s my experience. Who wants to break the knife off the shaking hand? I dropped a lot of thread to drag back the dead, thrashing bones below. So what’s the enemy supposed to envy? Right now. Right now. Keep me off the compass. I’ll never know its death. I'll spend my time mourning my life instead. Do you care about random order? Complete sooner and release more.
