Quiet Hounds Beacon SunWatch at the source
Man can grow from ignorance if he understands the nature of his mistakes. Such is the task of many historians laboring over the accurate depiction and chronicles of our past... to educate so as to better understand our future. These historic sites litter the south and mark the profound events that have come to shape our relatively young nation.
Anderson National Historic site, also known as Camp Sumpter, is located in Andersonville, GA and was a confederate civil war prison camp that held approx 45,000 union army soldiers between 1863 and 1865... 15 months in operation where over 12,000 men died due to dysentery, starvation, and exposure to the elements. These brothers fighting brothers were set in motion by a system without compassion, without understanding. This should have never happened.
Fast forward. Atlanta, GA 2012. In the humid southern land where the Quiet Hounds explore the history of its region. Capturing everyday experience with sound and story so that those who listen can move forward with grace and some sort of wisdom... With that intention, our curious gentlemen traveled to Andersonville to pay respect to those who suffered, and played songs to the lost souls who left this world wronged... in an attempt to set things right, to send these souls home... So our heroes know their journey was not all for loss.
This is Beacon Sun, an ode to lost souls.
