Five of nine boxes checked, a handshake, and a voice that thinks it owns you.
A printed sheet. Nine little boxes in a row. The doctor checks off five, shakes your hand, and tells you something you already knew.
For most of this track the voice singing isn't a person. It's the thing in the file. It loves at noon and goes to war by three. It answers two unread texts with the whole world leaving. It keeps an empty room behind your ribs and pulls the floor out every time you try to fill it.
Then the bridge happens. She takes the mic back. She's been fighting it since she was nine, she knows every line it has, and she throws it off her stage.
Slow, heavy drop-tuned guitars, gang vocals shouting HO! HO! over the hook, a twisted carnival accordion solo, and a breakdown built on one chant. The chorus changes at the end: it starts as "black OR white" and finishes as "black AND white", because she's the one holding the in-between now.
In the clip she's the Assistant, the rag doll who gets sawed in half every night. The screen cracks down the middle on every chorus: one side in color, one in black and white.
Original song. Not a cover. Written, produced and animated in-house. AI-assisted, human-directed.
