Vanessa Carlton OperatorWatch at the source

Released on September 25, 2015, "Operator" is the lead single from Vanessa Carlton's fifth studio album, 'Liberman.' The song delves into themes of manipulation and control, portraying a character who orchestrates events to her advantage. The accompanying music video, directed by Daniel Henry, presents a cinematic narrative where parents abandon their children, leaving them to navigate the world independently—a reversal of the traditional runaway trope. The video's abstract storytelling complements the song's haunting melody and introspective lyrics.
